TEN Survey Results

You will find the results of the recent TEN survey in graphical format at the end of this document. 82 people completed the survey which is an excellent response – thank you! As you can see from the results, the overall responses were very favourable and it seems that you value and enjoy our TEN sessions.

In addition to the questions many people left free text comments and we’ve attempted to summarize these below and where appropriate have added our comments. We shall also spend some time at our next event to present and discuss the survey results.

 1) Day of the event: some like Mondays, some like Tuesdays. We have recently changed from Monday to Tuesday and we’ll monitor the situation to see if we need to reconsider.

 2) Access: Some comments were made about the GWC being difficult to access. It is true that there is no light outside in the evenings, and it takes some time to find it the first time. If you have any problems, please feel free to call one of the organizers (see below for phone numbers). There is however free parking at the GWC. If you take the bus, it is the Nr. 5 that stops outside the Intercontinental. We will continue to include the bus number in future invitations and we could also discuss pooling cars if that is a possibility.

 3) Timing and Format: There were many comments on the time split between workshop and networking. Some felt that we should spend more time on more in-depth topics and less on networking. One suggestion was to start with an open ‘apéro’ from 18:30 when people arrive and to start the workshop punctually at 19:00 and then end with more networking. We will give this a try. Please however try to be there at 18:30.

 4) Topics: There were many suggestions for future topics including –

So, as you can see, there is no shortage of topics. Now all we need are some volunteers to be guest speakers and facilitators of the events. Do you have expertise in any of the topics above? If so, please get in touch! However please remember our golden rules – no selling your services (if you wish you can do that during networking), sessions must be interactive with audience participation and there should always be some key learnings and takeaways.

5) Attendance: We are happy to have many of you confirming that you will be at the events, however at the past couple of events, people have then just not turned up. This makes it very difficult for us to estimate food and drink, and the past couple of times, we have operated at a loss as we have fixed overheads.

We ask you to PLEASE tell us in advance if you cannot make it (even on the day) by going into the invitation and clicking the “no” button. This will greatly help us be able to plan correctly.

 6) Cost: There were some comments about the 35.00CHF cost being too high and some made the observation that other events held in the GWC were much cheaper. The problem is that the usual events held in the GWC are run either by the Swiss Press Club or the Geneva state, both of which are heavily subsidized. Unfortunately TEN receives no subsidies and we have to pay 300.00CHF to rent the GWC for the evening. Add to this the cost of providing food and wine, and the 35.00CHF doesn’t seem so much! If anyone has a suggestion for an alternative location which costs less and suits our needs, please let us know.

 7) Website: To see a calendar of future events and to get more information about the events, TEN, the organizers, speakers, etc. please go to www.tenpro.org

8) Invitation timings: Some of you feel that the invitations come too late. We will now send out the first invite 1 month before, repeat 2 weeks and then 1 week before. Sorry to those of you who then feel it is overkill. If you have already registered or do not wish to come, you can just delete the emails.

One suggestion to boost our numbers was to have a ’bring a new guest free’ promotion and that’s certainly something we will consider.

Once again, that you for taking the time to fill in the survey and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming sessions either as a participant or as a guest speaker!

Regards
